
Biography
Albert Casals, tenor
Born in Barcelona, he began his musical studies at the Montserrat Boys Choir under the direction of Father Ireneu Segarra.
Subsequently, and combining it with the engineering of telecommunications began studying singing with teachers like Joaquim Xavier Torra Proubasta, and later with Mariella Devia, Viorica Cortez, Carlos Chausson and Dalmau Gonzalez.
He began his professional career singing with the Palau de la Música’s chamber choir, having previously sung in prestigious choirs.
Once started his career as a soloist, he has performed in places like the Gran Teatro del Liceo, Teatro Real of Madrid, Barcelona Auditorium, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, , Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, Bilbao's Teatro Arriaga, Auditorio de Zaragoza, Teatro La Farandula de Sabadell, Teatro Verdi Trieste, etc.
In the field of oratory has performed pieces such as Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Nelson Mass and Creation by Haydn, Rossini's Petite Messe Solemnelle, Davide penitente, Coronation Mass and Mass in C Minor by Mozart, Bach Magnificat etc
His operatic debut was with the Amics de l’Òpera de Sabadell with il Pirata by Bellini, where has also sung Il Barbiere di Siviglia, the Elisir d'Amore, Cosí fan Tutte and Romeo and Juiette.
Some of his recent performances have been the Gran Teatre del Liceu: El Retablo de Maese Pedro, Pagliacci (Arlecchin), la Cenerentola; Anna Bolena in Trieste and Lleida, Die Fledermaus and Lucia di Lammermoor in Oviedo, La Traviata in Ulsan (Korea),...and others like Rinuccio of Puccini's Gianni Schicchi at Teatro Real of Madrid in a Woody Allen production.
